THE SIGN

One recurring joke throughout the series is the rearrangement of the letters on the hotel sign. This page will detail what happened in each episode. Alongside each screen capture you will see the words FAWLTY TOWERS. The letters that ARE included are highlighted GREY. As far as I can make out, there were three sign boards: The first was used during the pilot (Episode 1). A second was used for the remainder of series 1, with a  curved end, and a third for series two, featuring a longer “point” and a straighter edge.

In the second series the anagrams were created by Ian McClane. the AFM (Assistant Floor Manager)

Prankster Revealed!

In Episode 2 of Series 2 it is revealed that the paper boy from Series 1 is responsible for changing the letters!

Just for completeness – the “FAWLTY TOWERS” above the door…

Clearly the Series 2 sign – but it doesn’t feature at the start of any episode. Where is this from? A publicity picture?
